SoftSteps Terms of Service

Please read these terms before using SoftSteps (the "Service"). By

creating an account or using the Service, you agree to them.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 (or the age of legal majority where you live) to

create an account. The Service is meant to be used by parents, guardians,

and other adult caregivers on behalf of a child — not by children directly.

2. Your account

  • You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for

activity under your account.

  • You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and profile.
  • You may only upload a photo of a child you have the legal right and

parental authority to share — in practice, your own child.

3. The Service

SoftSteps generates personalized illustrated stories using information

you provide (a child's first name, age, and a topic or situation),

combined with AI-generated text and illustrations. This includes:

  • Five ready-made stories (new sibling, moving, first day of school,

potty training, a doctor's visit), each a one-time purchase

  • Custom stories, generated for any topic you describe, also a one-time purchase

You can read the opening pages of any story before paying.

4. Payment and refunds

  • Prices are shown before purchase and charged in U.S. dollars unless stated otherwise.
  • Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We don't store your card details.
  • Because each story is personalized for your child, purchases are generally

final once the full story is unlocked — which is why the opening pages are

readable before you pay. If a story fails to generate correctly or is

significantly flawed, contact [SUPPORT EMAIL] within 7 days of purchase and

we'll fix it or refund you.

5. Current pricing

Ready-made stories are currently $5.99 each and custom stories $8.99

each. We may change pricing going forward; the price shown at checkout is the

one that applies.

6. Content you provide

  • You keep ownership of the details you give us — your child's name, and

the topics or details you enter for a custom story.

  • You grant us the license needed to use that information to generate,

store, and deliver stories to your account.

  • You're responsible for what you submit. Please don't use the custom

story feature to request content that is harmful, hateful, sexual, or

otherwise inappropriate for a child.

7. About the stories we generate

  • Stories generated for your account are for your personal,

non-commercial use — reading them with your child, printing them for

yourselves, and similar. Please don't resell or redistribute them.

  • Story text and illustrations are produced with AI (currently Claude, by

Anthropic, for text). AI-generated content can occasionally come out

imperfect or unexpected — if something in a story seems off, tell us.

  • **These stories are meant for comfort and connection, not professional

advice.** They're not a substitute for guidance from a doctor,

therapist, or other qualified professional — especially for a child

with a diagnosed medical, developmental, or behavioral condition.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for anything illegal, or in a way that could harm a minor
  • Access or attempt to access another user's account or data
  • Interfere with the Service, including automated or excessive requests
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or resell the Service

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is." We don't guarantee it will be

uninterrupted or error-free, or that generated content will always match

what you expected from your prompt.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, SoftSteps is not liable for indirect,

incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the

Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us

in the past 12 months.

11. Changes

We may update these terms or the Service itself over time. We'll post

updated terms here with a new date; continuing to use the Service after

that means you accept the changes.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [YOUR STATE/COUNTRY], without

regard to conflict-of-law rules.
